|
This is the first 1,000 characters of 602 words (2.41 pages) in the essay titled Why I want to go to college
The dead never really die. Even after four long years she still affects my every decision and still influences my highest goals. Samuel Griswold Goodrich once said \ How many hopes and fears, how many ardent wishes and anxious apprehensions are twisted together in the threads that connect the parent with the child.\ And as every other daughter, I have a strong \ thread\ holding me close to my mother; the only difference is she isn\ t here to add anymore to it.
I miss her. I miss her thick, curly hair, I miss her wide, penetrating eyes, I miss the way her smile would light up a room, how anyone nearby would immediately catch her contagious laughter, and the way she always smelled like a mixture of sour citrus and sweet apples. But even more so I miss the way we had almost everything in common, I miss our late night talks about the future, and how she encouraged every one of my dreams.
Through her nurturing and tender care a deep desire had begun to bloom, a desire that was planted deep within my heart, a desire my mom coaxed into the open, a desire to teach. But I don’t want to be just a teacher, I want to be a mentor, have an impact, I want to be the one that is remembered for years to come, who makes learning fun, who changes something in each life that sits in a desk and attempts to learn.
